Climate Commitment
arNumeral's commitment to a low-carbon trajectory aligned with the Paris Agreement.
Since arNuméral was founded in 2009, we have embedded digital sobriety and continuous carbon footprint reduction into our operations. This commitment applies to all our products and services.
In line with the Paris Agreement's objective of limiting global warming to 1.5 °C, we are committed to a trajectory targeting net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across all our activities.
100% refurbished hardware
All of our IT equipment — computers, monitors, phones — is purchased second-hand or refurbished. We only buy new hardware as a last resort, when no refurbished alternative is available. This policy significantly reduces manufacturing-related emissions (scope 3).
Sovereign hosting in France
Our infrastructure is hosted by Scaleway, in datacenters located exclusively in France. The French electricity mix, dominated by nuclear power, emits approximately 50 g CO₂/kWh — 8 times less than the European average. This ensures that every request processed by our applications runs on nearly fully decarbonised energy.
Sovereign artificial intelligence
When our clients choose the sovereign AI option, processing is performed by Mistral AI, whose servers are located in France. Inference computations benefit from the same decarbonised energy mix as the rest of our infrastructure.
Lean and efficient code
Our software is designed to minimise server resource consumption. This lean engineering approach maximises the utilisation of each machine and reduces the number of servers required — and therefore the associated emissions.
Local development
Our team is based in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou (France) and works in a hybrid model, limiting daily commutes. All development is carried out in France, benefiting from the decarbonised energy mix for workstation power consumption.
This is not a one-off initiative but a founding principle of our company since 2009. We are committed to continuing and strengthening these actions to contribute to the collective goal of carbon neutrality.
